Introduction

An e-commerce project is a set of processes and activities, governed by certain principles and Laws. In order to successfully manage E-Commerce projects, a manager must understand and be willing to apply the governing Laws.

This book will provide you with the practical Laws of e-commerce project management and guidance on how to follow them. The book is written from the perspective of Enterprise Solution implementation with numerous international stakeholders. However, the principles and Laws described in this book are 100% applicable for smaller projects and Community Editions. The only difference is in the degree of implementation required.

The Laws laid out in this book were carefully derived from direct professional experience in some of the biggest e-commerce projects in Europe. A few of them were devised easily and smoothly, applying the relevant practices from PRINCE2, Scrum and Six Sigma methodologies, whereby Scrum yielded the most results in the shortest time. However, for the remainder, no existing practices could be applied and most of them were learned the hard way: by trial and error. There are altogether 17 Laws, 12 for e-commerce implementation agencies and 5 for shop owners. The Laws are laid down so that you can apply them in the easiest and smoothest way.

Break them at your own peril.
